Deciding Day

The final day is here - millions of people have been wating for it for months. Of course I am talking about the presidential elections in the United States of America.
From the latest polls, it might look like the race has already been decided long ago, with Barack Obama enjoying a confortable lead. And I personally hope it will work out like this today, because the world does not need another president like George Bush, looking at the world as a simple building of black or white, of good or evil, of friend or enemy, with no grey, nothing in between. Especially in the crisis of the financial markets, the US are in need of a president that understands the complexity of the issues. Even if we all know, the candidates are talking a lot before the elections, and nobody knows if Obama will be able to do what he promised. But even if he is not as good as he sold himself, it would be a good sign to the world, to the economy, if the Americans would vote Obama.
And still, there are doubts: is America and is the world ready for a black US president? I think they are, the world is definitely ready and I honestly think the majority of the US residents are ready as well. Although, in my oppinion, it will still be risky to have a black president, especially in times the economy is not running well, a lot of people are losing their jobs and social problems lead to a rise in popularity of national socialist organisations.
But still, a vote for Obama is a sign not only to the people of the US, but also to the whole world. A sign for tolerance and against any kind of racism and discrimination.
And last but not least, I hope it would also be a good sign for the world economy as I hope Obama will have the clear view needed to solve the huge problems the US and world economy are facing in the coming years.
In that sense: "Change is coming!"
